I am at a race ( another expensive hobby) and a fellow racer brought a gunto for me to look at. The date is june 44. The name side is hard to read with active red rust. The mei is long and not choppy. The last two kanji are very clear the first of the two is a box with two X's and the last is mitsu. Is there a online visual reference for mei? There are 6-8 kanji in the mei. There are yusari mei marks, and a faint hamon visible.

Thanks

Justin.

There was a Kunimitsu in Sendai; his family name was Miura, He had four students, and was 43 years old in Showa 18, meaning he was born about 1900.....He was a Rikugun Jumei Tosho.

Thanks Chris. He wants to sell it for 400$. Not sure if it is worth that.

If it is in decent condition, and has a star stamp or it otherwise appears handmade, I would say it would be a steal at that price....Check ebay-even seki gunto are going for $600-$800....
