RobertM Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 Hi all thought id share my new tsuba with you guys. Signed: Bushu Tamagawa ju Komai Nobutsune Gyo nen 66 sai Strange as it doest look like a bushu tsuba to me..but i still have a lot to learn! Your opinions would be welcomed. http://s1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc5 ... u%20tsuba/ thanks rob m Quote
John A Stuart Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 Nobutsune was born in 1765, so this tsuba must have been made in 1831. He was later period in Edo (Musashi no kuni) and may have made this tsuba emulating Owari stylisation (utsushi) to order. I haven't seen other work by him, but, I agree it doesn't seem the usual 'Bushu ju' bori. Still seems a nice plate for the time. John Quote
cspage Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 The design is outstanding...at least in my eyes. Those linear geese at the bottom rock. The contrast of the delicate geese and moon with the strong edges of the sukashi, the balance between heavy and light is wonderful. Thanks. Colin Quote
RobertM Posted March 24, 2011 Author Report Posted March 24, 2011 Yes I love the design. The moon is cut so finely, i guess done with a wire saw Quote
Surfson Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 Yes, beautiful piece. Looks like Ito work to me. B Quote
