Drago Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Hi, I recently bought a Wakizashi that came unassembled to me. This means, the whole grip was not mounted. Okay, mounting the Tuska and Seppas is easy, but which way around do I mount the Tsuba??? My Tsuba has a single, round Histu Ana. Now, do I mount the Tsuba so that the Hitsu Ana is left (viewed when holding the sword as for use) or right? I hope you understand what I mean... PS: Please, no discussion about "unassembled", I didn't really like it either. Thanks! Quote
shingen Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Hello Tobias, do you perhaps have photo's of the Tsuba and Wakizashi? Quote
Jamie Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 IMO, blades should be sent "unassembled". The best way i've seen is for the blade to be wrapped and Attached to a board in a secure fashion. That way it can't rattle in the saya. I think it also lends itself not to have customs swinging it around too. Sorry for off topic answer. Tsuba will usually be mounted with major part of theme showing- while sword is in saya. Quote
Mark Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 if the saya has a pocket for a kozuka it is obvious, so that must not be the case. If the tsuba has a "A" side (more detail) then you may want that facing out (toward the handle). Otherwise the opening for the kozuka goes next to the body when worn edge up Quote
Drago Posted October 25, 2010 Author Report Posted October 25, 2010 Sorry for taking so long to reply, I was pretty busy. There are no photots unfortunately. But your replies helped a lot. I managed to assemble it now. Thanks again! Quote
