pcfarrar Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 Can anyone help with this gendaito mei? Thanks, Peter Quote
k morita Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 Hi, Yes, gendai-to. The long mei is "Made from Shizu tradition by Kato Jumyo who was a resident in Seki,Mimo province". Sorry poor my English. Quote
pcfarrar Posted September 23, 2010 Author Report Posted September 23, 2010 Thanks Morita-san for the help. It looks to be a well made gendaito. A UK dealer has it priced at £1250 which I think is a very good price. It's in resonable polish with decent quality shin-gunto koshirae. Check it out here: http://www.michaeldlong.net/kolistB/1/S ... 114101.htm Quote
k morita Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 Maybe, date is "Showa 14th year,September,at Inaba mountain". Quote
cabowen Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 Kato Jumyo was a decent smith. Note the finishing of the nakago and the quality of the mei as compared to the usual Seki gunto. This is how a professional smith finishes his work..... Quote
