Does anyone have examples of RJT smith Ihara Teruhide's wartime work?

Hi all,

 

Well, I pushed the boat out twice this week - once on the 1943 tanto and then on a 1987 shinsakuto by the RJT smith Ihara Teruhide.

 

I know that he trained under Kurihara Akihide from 1936, became a Rikugun Jumei Tosho during WWII and, post war, was selected (not won) 14 times in the annual NBTHK 'Shinsaku Meito Ten' competition.

 

I would very much like to see some of his star stamped work if anyone has any pictures (or even just written records).

I only have one Teruhide blade on file that might have a star covered with corrosion.  Posted on this Wehrmacht-awards Thread, but the blade is heavily tarnished completely obscuring the hamon.  And in the end, it might just be corrosion, not a star.

 

The only documentation I reference is the RJT list on this Japaneseswordindex.com page.

 

Of course there is this from Sesko's list: 

"TERUHIDE (輝秀), Shōwa (昭和, 1926-1989), Saitama – “Teruhide” (輝秀), real name Ihara Kametarō (井原亀太郎), born 1902, he worked as rikugun-jumei-tōshō, jōko no jōi (Akihide), First Seat at the 6th Shinsaku Nihontō Denrankai (新作日本刀展覧会, 1941)"

Yes Jean @ROKUJURO,  he was still working into the early 1990s but, by then, his swords were being signed by his apprentice Teruie.

So far as I can tell, nothing remains of this Saitama-based lineage nowadays. 😢
