bkane Posted 17 hours ago Report Posted 17 hours ago Need help identifying the sword and signature. Bought this as a Vietnam soldier bringback. Quote
Ray Singer Posted 17 hours ago Report Posted 17 hours ago This is the Showa era smith Kunihiro. Please see below. 1 Quote
bkane Posted 16 hours ago Author Report Posted 16 hours ago Thanks for the information. Would this have been traditionally made? Quote
Ray Singer Posted 16 hours ago Report Posted 16 hours ago Please show the entire nakago including the presence of any small arsenal stamps above the mei (inscription). Quote
Ray Singer Posted 16 hours ago Report Posted 16 hours ago Seki stamp (sideways). This indicates it is a WWII showato arsenal blade (not fully traditionally made). 1 Quote
Ray Singer Posted 16 hours ago Report Posted 16 hours ago Still Seki stamp, no change to earlier feedback. 1 Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted 9 hours ago Report Posted 9 hours ago Darren, The large Seki was an inspector stamp of the civil Seki Cutlery Manufacturers Association used between 1940 - 1944. Personally, I feel the blades with this stamp (and the Showa stamp) were usually quite well made., just not traditional. Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted 9 hours ago Report Posted 9 hours ago Just for the record keeping, we are talking about this Kunihiro - 片岡国廣 - correct? Quote
bkane Posted 5 hours ago Author Report Posted 5 hours ago Yes, the Kunihiro is the sword with the Seki stamp. Quote
