Looking for input on this. Seems like it could be, but also seems strange that there are extended areas to the left and right that are a bit damaged. At the very least there is a bit of damage.

This ware runs through entire bohi? Marked spot looks like fukure to me especially with left part already delaminated. How old is this blade?

Good guess! Correct :) - I think you're right. After looking it over it does seem like a fukure more than umegane, especially since it is not entirely covered as an umegane would be.

My guess is that this is very loose hada in the layer of core steel revealed when the bohi was cut and made worse over time.  Umegane is usually a rectangular shape with defined edges.

To me, this looks as if the BOHI were in the JI rather than in the SHINOGI-JI?

If I am seeing this correctly, the BOHI might have been added later in an attempt to conceal a bad KIZU that appeared while polishing.

That was my immediate thought too. Odd place to carve the Hi and I couldn't find a similar example when I had a quick look.
