Marcel Posted September 23, 2025 Report Posted September 23, 2025 Hi, This morning I showed a Shin gunto type 98 with a different, non-military tsuba on the military swords forum. Since I don't know anything about tsuba, I'm asking here. Does anyone know what kind of tsuba this is and what period it's from? It is made of iron with copper or bronze inlays. Its dimensions are 78mm by 6mm. Thanks in advance! 1 Quote
MauroP Posted September 24, 2025 Report Posted September 24, 2025 The inlays look quite amatourish, possibly a Shōwa period tsuba? Quote
Spartancrest Posted September 24, 2025 Report Posted September 24, 2025 (edited) I worry about the hitsu, both are rather oddly shaped. Something made very fast and not finished very well. I can't find another like it so it could be a one-off or hobby piece? Edited September 24, 2025 by Spartancrest 1 Quote

I don't know anything about it myself, so I value it very much. Quote
