bond_fan Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 Hi Forum I was wondering if someone could please help me with the translation of the inscriptions on both sides of the blade and the tang? Thanks! Tim Quote
Nobody Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 I am not familiar with this field. But it seems to be a mystic Buddhist formula, which is an incantation of 毘沙門天 (Bishamonten: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vai%C5%9Brava%E1%B9%87a ). It is included in 法華経 (the Lotus Sutra: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lotus_Sutra ) Ref. http://texpo.jp/texpo/disp/6896 阿棃那棃莵那棃 (atte natte nunatte) 阿那盧那履拘那履 (anada nade kunadi) Mei: 國行 – Kuniyuki Quote
bond_fan Posted March 20, 2010 Author Report Posted March 20, 2010 Dear Nobody, You are amazing to be able to discover the meaning of the blade translation so quickly! I wonder how you were able to do it and do you know what the chant means? Thanks so much Tim Quote
