hddennis Posted August 25 Report Posted August 25 Waiting for an online yari purchase to arrive and tried Google AI response to see if I could research the mei there. Is there any way to prove or disprove this response? Howard Dennis Quote
John C Posted August 26 Report Posted August 26 Howard: With Google AI there is generally a couple of sites listed right after its answer. The first being where it got most of its information. Do you have that site? John C. 1 Quote

Here's what I found but don't fully understand: https://www.city.fukuchiyama.lg.jp/soshiki/7/1266.html?utm_source=chatgpt.com Howard Dennis Quote
Jussi Ekholm Posted August 26 Report Posted August 26 I believe with swords the name 通明 would more commonly be read as Michiaki. The three yari you linked seem to belong to Goryo jinja in Fukuchiyama city. 1 Quote
Shugyosha Posted August 26 Report Posted August 26 Also, AI's reading of the province name is off - 丹州 is read "Tanshuu" which, unfortunately can be one of three provinces: Tanba, Tango or Tajima as they all had this same "Shuumei" reading. 1 Quote
John C Posted August 26 Report Posted August 26 Howard: The site seems to confirm what John and Jussi have said. You may already know this, however if you have a mac and visit a site in Japanese, you can go to view -> translate -> English and get a better translation than using AI alone (in most cases).
