charlesf Posted July 24 Report Posted July 24 Quote Bought this at auction a while ago, full shingunto mounts, stout blade with more pronounced hamon and hada than usual with Nagamitsu blades, unfortunately neither my camera or my skills are up to the task of capturing clear images, being out of polish the blade requires viewing 'in hand' to appreciate the work. Hopefully somebody will find this of interest. charles 1 Quote

Bruce Pennington Posted July 25 Report Posted July 25 Yes, plus there were two Nagamitsu making blades during the war. I thought @mecox had an article on them, but after checking, it was Nobumitsu he wrote about. 1 Quote
charlesf Posted July 26 Author Report Posted July 26 You are nearly correct Bruce, you are probably thinking of his article on Fukuoka gendai tosho which includes Endo Nagamitsu of Kurume (different 'naga' character) of which I also have an example, very nice sword in a more restrained style. charles 1 Quote

Correct, there was a second one in Gifu Prefecture by the name of Kawasaki Sen´itsu 川崎専逸. Below are some examples of his mei. 濃州住川﨑長光作 Nōshū-jū Kawasaki Nagamitsu saku 関住川﨑長光作 Seki-jū Kawasaki Nagamitsu saku 長光 Nagamitsu 1 Quote
charlesf Posted August 11 Author Report Posted August 11 It occurred to me that I might have kept an image from the auction house and after trawling through hundreds of pictures found this which is a distinct improvement on my effort. Charles Quote
