dakodaa Posted July 23 Report Posted July 23 Hey all, I've recently purchesed this Police Saber, and under the Koichchi cover?(dont what its called) there are a couple of markings. On the right it seems to be the mark for NI and HE, if Im not mistaken it would mean its a second class sword based out of Inchon. So far I havent been able to find anything on the markings to the left, any of you got clues or information? Thanks, Emil 1 Quote
Ray Singer Posted July 23 Report Posted July 23 The kanji appear to be five and six on the left column and eight on the right. 5 8 6 五 八 六 1 Quote
dakodaa Posted July 23 Author Report Posted July 23 Thanks ray, didnt think to check for numbers. and this is the eight? I thought it looked more like he but of course I could be wrong. Quote
Ray Singer Posted July 23 Report Posted July 23 It appears to my eyes to be 八 (eight). Best regards, Ray Quote
Conway S Posted July 23 Report Posted July 23 I agree with Ray. Those are just sub-assembly numbers. I don’t see anything from the pictures provided that would tie this to Korean use or production. Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted July 24 Report Posted July 24 Agreed. Very nice police saber, Emil. I like it! Quote

At first glance, they looked like a punch and scratches. But on closer examination, they are triangular shaped (e.g., like a chisel) and appear to be the numbers 023. I suspect the assembly number would match numbers occasionally found on the wood scabbard insert. John C. 1 1 Quote
