Lareon Posted July 21, 2025 Report Posted July 21, 2025 Less Decorative than my first, This one doesn't have the decoration like my osaka variant. Not removed the barrel at all but once i have it in hand i'll take some more pictures. 3 Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted July 21, 2025 Report Posted July 21, 2025 Loving the dark patina on this one. A trusty Ashigaru battlefield gun. Possibly Inatomi-Ryū school of gunnery, and possibly made in Kunitomo. Also I have a special attraction to the 鉄線 Tessen clematis Mon. Yours is Tessen-guruma or ‘clematis wheel’ design. Congratulations! Looking forward to your updates. 5 Quote

Bugyotsuji Posted July 24, 2025 Report Posted July 24, 2025 If I can find the photographs, here are two more examples of Tessen-guruma, clematis wheel kamon, one as an iron tsuba, and one in the sliver fittings of an amber netsuke. 3 Quote

Bugyotsuji Posted July 25, 2025 Report Posted July 25, 2025 國友弥兵衛尉金次 Kunitomo Yahei no Jo Kanetsugu(?) Interesting to find a Kunitomo smith in … do you think that is that Sesshū Jū, Osaka? You would think they might be rivals. I can’t imagine a Settsu/Sakai smith in Kunitomo, so it does give us a measure of their relative status as bases of manufacture. 鍛巻張 Kitae/Tan makibari barrel forged with (spiral) metal binding(s) 1 Quote

Bugyotsuji Posted July 26, 2025 Report Posted July 26, 2025 Great Tony! Can we see the Bisen breech screw? (And that looks like a Kaō at the end of the Mei.) Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted July 26, 2025 Report Posted July 26, 2025 五つ鉄線 六つ鉄線 Does your clematis Kamon have five, or six petals? Six maybe… 1 Quote
Lareon Posted July 26, 2025 Author Report Posted July 26, 2025 It has 6 petals yes, the breech plug unfortunately is missing from this teppo. it did give me the confidence to go back to my osaka variant and remove the barrel, will add photos to that thread in a minute 1 Quote
