Joseph P. Posted June 22 Report Posted June 22 Hello all, May I request a translation? Seki stamped type 98. Thanks. Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted June 22 Report Posted June 22 The stamp is a partially struck Showa stamp. I've attempted to enhance a photo for ease of reading. Possibly Seki Kanemune, but others will have to address that. 1 Quote
Joseph P. Posted June 23 Author Report Posted June 23 Thanks Bruce, I took a few more photographs, messed around with the contrast a bit. Hopefully this is more helpful. I like the blade, it feels a bit nicer than my other stamped swords. Quote
mecox Posted June 23 Report Posted June 23 Joseph & Bruce, well I give up. He is an early war Seki smith. Can read: Seki ju Kawa # Kane # saku. Plus Sho stamp. So family name of Kawa # (looks a bit like Kawasaki). Tosho name of Kane # ( looks a bit like Kanemune or Kaneizumi?). Its beyond me. Possibly unregistered, but has a stamp. Need to get the expert @Nobody 1 1 Quote
xiayang Posted June 23 Report Posted June 23 関住川崎兼泉作 = Seki-jū Kawasaki Kanezumi saku Not a lot of information about this smith apart from an old thread here: 2 2 Quote

Good example of why I wish guys would post actual photos rather than using links. 3 1 Quote
Joseph P. Posted June 24 Author Report Posted June 24 Thanks all for the help. Sad that some information is just lost to time. 15 hours ago, Bruce Pennington said: Link in that thread is dead.
