aftakas Posted June 12 Author Report Posted June 12 He says this, Japanese battle koshirae ww2 in very good condition with rare silver thuba that is also open worked a beautiful leather saya is nice to complete your katana original ww2 Quote
Rawa Posted June 12 Report Posted June 12 More like brass ok its open model with some finishing. But old patina dsn't look like it. Quote
aftakas Posted June 12 Author Report Posted June 12 I find it difficult to see if its fake or real on the site you send me, but i think its an 98 or 95 right? Quote
Rawa Posted June 12 Report Posted June 12 Type 98 but this leather cover is in "to good shape" to be genuine. Mr @Bruce Pennington maybe should evaluate. This tsuba finishing especially and leather cover. Quote
aftakas Posted June 12 Author Report Posted June 12 I dont care if its silver or not, but just want to know if its real ww2 era and not an fake one, So you think the katana itself is real and the cover not? Is there a way to see if its fake? @Rawa Quote
Rawa Posted June 12 Report Posted June 12 If he ever saw tsuba carved like this then yeah it is genuine. Quote
aftakas Posted June 12 Author Report Posted June 12 What was the reason this one has an wooden blade? Quote
Matsunoki Posted June 12 Report Posted June 12 The tsuka wrapping looks brand new and not very well done. Not WW2 in my opinion. Quote

Rawa Posted June 12 Report Posted June 12 He probably meant "katana" as koshirae and cover - leather parts. You clearly see blade is made of wood. But this tsuba ... Mimi [oval part of tsuba] should be smooth so it won't gather dirt right? Its proper military design I suppose. Quote
Rawa Posted June 12 Report Posted June 12 Boyz do we have any thread with gunto fakes and replicas? Maybe we should make one so I could dig net fir those. We have one for NCO which is still hot. Quote
Scogg Posted June 12 Report Posted June 12 I agree with Colin. I think it's an assortment of genuine WW2 era parts that have been put together after the war; and likely outside of Japan. We have various threads in the Military Swords section that feature different Gunto and relevant fittings. With the many variations of gunto (94, 95, 98, Type 3/100/rinji, Kyu, Kai, etc?...) it's probably easier to address each sword individually rather than have a fake gunto thread that covers them all. Either way, I don't think this koshirae would belong in a "fake" discussion anyway. @Bruce Pennington thoughts? All the best, -Sam Quote
aftakas Posted June 12 Author Report Posted June 12 Yeah i think i pass this one, are there other swords or gunto,s that were used in ww2 with an reasenable price? Quote
aftakas Posted June 12 Author Report Posted June 12 How, he says all parts are the same number. Quote
Rawa Posted June 12 Report Posted June 12 Numbers on seppa tsuba saya. How many times this seller reposted this setting? Quote
