jawob Posted May 26 Report Posted May 26 Sorry if this has been asked before. I did a search but didn't really find a good answer. There is a blade I'm interested in but would like to know the following process for shipping to USA. 1. Once shipped are there any taxes, duties, etc that I'd have to pay? 2. What shipping service is used Usps, ups, FedEx? 3. Is there signature confirmation or would it be left at door? Many thanks to any information for this greenhorn. Jeff Quote
nihon Posted May 27 Report Posted May 27 aoi Japan usually ships by ems, the other 2 question i can't answer as i'm from a different country. Quote
atm Posted May 27 Report Posted May 27 1. As of now, there is a 10% tariff on all Japanese goods entering the U.S. This will increase to 24% in July if a trade deal is not reached or if not changed. 2. Normally shipment is by EMS, which is USPS delivery once in the U.S. They will do UPS for items valued in excess of the EMS insurance limit. 3. There should be a signature required at delivery with EMS, but that depends on if your mail carrier follows protocol. Quote
Volker62 Posted May 27 Report Posted May 27 that's not nice, In "Buntland" Germany that cost's 19% Quote
Lewis B Posted May 27 Report Posted May 27 Do not ship EMS/USPS. International shipments are getting stuck in the system and receiving your blade in a timely manner is going to be a crap shoot. I've read of numerous issues on other forums like KitchenKnifeForum and I've had personally experience shipping a bike wheel to my brother from Germany to San Diego CA. Its been sitting at the local distribution center, according to the tracking info, since April 7th. USPS have been absolutely useless with attempts to investigate and get things moving. Quote

The tariff could be a problem I had not about. Quote
