peet Posted May 1 Report Posted May 1 Hello everyone, I hope I'm posting this in the right forum. I have a 23rd Kanefusa katana (just the blade) and would like to have a matching koshirae (specifically a kai gunto) made for it. What would be the best way to go about this? Where could I find the appropriate fittings (no saya)—ideally ones with matching numbers (originals preferred, but replicas would work if necessary)? Thanks a lot. Peter Quote
ROKUJURO Posted May 1 Report Posted May 1 Peter, you could post an additional ad in the "WANT TO BUY" section. We have some members who collect militaria. 1 Quote
oli Posted May 2 Report Posted May 2 Hi Peter, please be aware of the costs. You will never get back the money, if you sell the sword. I could be easier if you in the USA. I would suggest to only choose a shirasaya, Oli 1 Quote
Gerry Posted May 2 Report Posted May 2 It's way too much work to get a new kai gunto koshirae made for a Kanefusa blade. You're looking at at least 6 months of turn around time, and probably $3000 after everything is done. It would be much easier jus to buy a kai gunto intact with koshirae. 1 Quote
raaay Posted May 3 Report Posted May 3 Hi Peter , have a look in the for sale section , there is a full set of Kai Gunto mounts for sale , most likely a lot more economical to purchase the whole package rather than trying to pick up all the parts individually, IMHO . Quote
