Jeffo Posted August 31, 2024 Report Posted August 31, 2024 Hello There, Found on Market. Maybe you have some more informations ? Kind regards Jeff Quote
Ray Singer Posted August 31, 2024 Report Posted August 31, 2024 Hi Jeff, your tanto is signed Yamato (no) kuni Norinaga. This js the mei if the famous founder of the Yamato Shikkake school, and there were several other individuals that work later using the same mei of Norinaga. My impression is that the mei is later than when the Norinaga lineage worked ( meaning this may not be an authentic inscription) but this otherwise can be a very nice and legitimate koto tanto. Best regards, Ray 1 Quote
Jeffo Posted August 31, 2024 Author Report Posted August 31, 2024 Thank you Ray for your reply I'll try to find some works of that school for references. Quote
ROKUJURO Posted August 31, 2024 Report Posted August 31, 2024 Jeff, in case the KASANE (thickness) near the MUNE MACHI was more than 9 mm, I think this might indeed be a YOROI-DOSHI. What is the NAGASA (length from tip to MUNE MACHI)? 1 Quote
Jeffo Posted August 31, 2024 Author Report Posted August 31, 2024 Thanks Jean for your reply. The Nagasa is 22cm (222mm) kasane is 8.3mm Kind regards Quote
