paulj Posted December 25, 2006 Report Posted December 25, 2006 I have an old wakazashi and, again, I'm stumped. Any help? Quote
Stephen Posted December 25, 2006 Report Posted December 25, 2006 Uda Kunimune...i bet his sensei gave him D- for cutting the mei or he had his infant son do it Hawleys 657 and 658 Quote
paulj Posted December 26, 2006 Author Report Posted December 26, 2006 Thanks, I just got back from the library and looked through the Hawley and found one Uda Kunimune with the matching 4 kanji signature followed by the 2nd, 3rd, & 4th generations from the 14th-16th centuries. Now the question is, which one? Quote
sencho Posted December 26, 2006 Report Posted December 26, 2006 Hi Paul, Interesting you said you looked this up at the library.... what is your location? Would libraries generally stock publications such as Hawley's and others? Just something I had never considered before...being a fairly narrow field of interest in the grand scheme of things. paulj Posted December 26, 2006 Author Report Posted December 26, 2006 I live in Milwaukee and the central library has the 2 volume Hawley in its art reference department and some works on swords. These books may only be used in the reference area but photocopies may be made. I presume most better library collections would have these and perhaps other works as well as auction catalogues (Milwaukee has Sotheby's, Christie's and others) for research purposes. Quote
Stephen Posted December 26, 2006 Report Posted December 26, 2006 looks to have been punched instead of drilled...id go with the Koto. Quote
