Jacques Posted October 25, 2013 Report Posted October 25, 2013 Hi, Bokuto we use in Kator shinto ryu. Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted October 25, 2013 Author Report Posted October 25, 2013 Hmmm... no tsuba then? Quote
Jacques Posted October 25, 2013 Report Posted October 25, 2013 Hi, No tsuba, never with bokken. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9szW_z40_8 Quote
Toryu2020 Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 Heres one with a huge tsuba - supposedly Oishi Shinkage-ryu - I am curious if anyone here has ideas to support or debunk that theory? Any help appreciated, -t Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted October 27, 2013 Author Report Posted October 27, 2013 Jacques is saying that they never use tsuba in Katori Shinto Ryu, but as we saw on the previous page all the ones on those racks (of some other Ryuha) have tsuba. Hmmm... the tsuba in yours looks much like my latest, and the leather habaki also looks like two I just made last week. Nice long pole, though! Quote
Toryu2020 Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 Thanks Piers I wasnt responding to Jacques specifically, I should be curious to see details of your bokuto - the one I posted is dead straight - 136cm long - the tsuba is over 10cm in diameter - the handle is quite robust while the blade tapers to a very small point - more for iai practice than paired kata I am thinking... -t Quote
