Hi All, I have found the name of the mayor of Sasebo end of the war and into the occupation named 小 浦 総 平. I have tried to figure possible names like Koho Usahachi etc. Maybe someone could give me the most likely romanji for his name. Please. John

An alternative might be "Fusahira", but I think the name (or, rather, the bearer of it) is "too young" for this old-fashioned reading.

Thanks both of you. I tried to search for it, but, came up with too much info that I would have to translate to be of any use. I didn't find a mention of a mayor of Sasebo readily apparent among all the dross, but, if Piers found mention of him that clinches it as your first reading Guido. Just for your info, I have a sword surrendered by him, so am curious about him. John
