This may be asking too much, given how smudged the writing on the left is. Nevertheless, I would greatly appreciate any Kanji that can be made out. For what it's worth there is a family name "Ishiwatari" in silver, and another name "Toyoshima" on the saya liner.

Thank you once again Steve. This matches what is written on the Saya liner, so now the whole picture of this unique silver Gunto is complete. My thoughts are that this sword was special ordered by a Mr Toyoshima for an officer named Ishiwatari as a gift, or prize. Unfortunately the Gendai blade is unsigned, though of good quality.

Saya: "豊島様 - For Toyoshima Sama" #1516. Red ink stamps: "一 等 - first class" & "占 - ???"
