I wanted to share another fantastic polish by Woody Hall  The Wierd thing is I thought the sword was a Naminohira sword until the polish revealed possibly an entirely different   smith Ikkansai Yoshihiro !
Any way Woody said I would be surprised! It actually blew me away because of the unique hada Anyway I thought I would share this

Steve…..you’d never get tired of looking at this!
Only out of interest…if it is by Yoshihiro….I’ve got a Tanto by his pupil Kunihide that was discussed on this forum.

Not trying to hijack your topic but there is some relevant info within my post…..and some very similar characteristics.

Thanks for your comments! Well I got 5 likes maybe that Will help off set the 500 dislikes lol Speaking of that I owe others an apology I was way out of line!

Any way I think Woody and I were both surprised it wasn’t a Naminohira sword however after seeing the hada I’m happy it wasn’t

Its amazing how he was able to bring out the beauty!  It only contest to his talent as a polisher

Steve…..I am (I think) a bit of an exception in that I am quite comfortable owning swords that are not in the finest polish!  So no, I’m not getting it polished. There are a few reasons for this. I’m not keen on sending swords overseas…delays…losses…thefts…border force incompetence etc etc. I prefer to avoid those stresses! I value complete untouched pieces ie with original koshirae where possible…..as if the last Samurai owner had just handed it over. Also sadly we have the severe shortage of UK polishers. I am on the waiting list for one that has been highly recommended….and that’s what I’m doing…waiting.

All in know about the smith is in the link.

You guys in the USA are so lucky to have access to craftsmen that you do!

Best.Colin.

I understand shipping over seas is hard There’s only 2 polishers I know , ones In Hawaii The other in Las Vegas I generally use the 2nd choice

The down side is  its a very long waiting list and if he’s taking any new swords !
I probably spend too much money on swords but for me it’s worth it

I do agree using the original  mounts if possible

Hi folks  I found pictures of my sword to show what it looked like before it was polished

It looks like a amateurish polish
