Bridges Posted November 28, 2022 Report Posted November 28, 2022 Is this a hex nut on the end of the guard!?! My type 19s do not look like this. Can someone help verify this before I buy it, I need a Japanese police type 19 in my collection but this seems off. Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted November 28, 2022 Report Posted November 28, 2022 The sword is good, the nut is not correct. Usually these are peened, there are usually a few of these floating around so would hold off for a 100% original example. 2 Quote

Are they common? If not, it might be worth a buy for something as high-level as this. 1 Quote
Bridges Posted November 28, 2022 Author Report Posted November 28, 2022 That’s what I’m thinking going off the hilt scroll work alone…guy wants 400 for it but the end nut looks like joe bob forced a hex nut on the hilt on the back of his Chevy… Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted November 29, 2022 Report Posted November 29, 2022 That could always be yanked off and the nakago post peened - of course AFTER you get a good look at the nakago, and post pictures! 1 Quote

Bruce Pennington Posted November 29, 2022 Report Posted November 29, 2022 Ha, well, that's something only you can answer! Standard Type 19 dress swords run more like $250. And like I said, I don't follow the dress sword market, so it's your call. If you're not planning to re-sell, and it's something you'd appreciate having in your collection, then maybe the price is worth it. I've overpaid for a couple of mine. But that was years ago, and the money is almost forgotten, but I'm sure glad I have those sword, today. Heck, make an offer. Quote
