Bencld Posted November 23, 2022 Report Posted November 23, 2022 Hi all. Found this at the bottom of one of my sword bags. Looks like the original one that should of stayed in Japan ! Just wondering what it may say ! Thanks all. Quote
Ray Singer Posted November 23, 2022 Report Posted November 23, 2022 Wakizashi of 32.9cm. Mei is Akihiro. Does that match your sword? Quote
Bencld Posted November 23, 2022 Author Report Posted November 23, 2022 Hi Ray, thanks for that, yes it does. I bought it from the US so it was sent from Japan to the US then here! More well travelled than me ! Im guessing there is no other relevant info on the card? Does it look like the original one? chris Quote
Ray Singer Posted November 23, 2022 Report Posted November 23, 2022 Hi Chris, it does appear to be a original torokusho. Dated Showa 55 (but written as Showa go go nen, rather than Showa go ju go nen). Aside from what I mentioned, the sori is 0.6cm. No other details to the attribution, but if this is meant to be Soshu Akihiro there are very few authentic zaimei examples of his work out there. Best regards, Ray Quote
Bencld Posted November 23, 2022 Author Report Posted November 23, 2022 Ray, thank you again. No papers, so gimei ! That’s how it goes especially if it came out of Japan at some point. The two character mei is on the ura side of the nakago which is unusual I believe ? Chris. Quote
