Sergio Bastos Posted December 8, 2006 Author Report Posted December 8, 2006 yes the seller tell me that is a modern piece and tell me that can send me more pictures! he said that is from late edo but the kabuto look more recent, and is in perfect state of conservation! Quote
Sergio Bastos Posted December 8, 2006 Author Report Posted December 8, 2006 sorry....the seller can´t send me more pictures ( kabuto is ready for shipping!) Quote
Justin Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 Hi Sergio, The russet colour of the bowl and the shikoro look reasonable, but the lining, cord, tehen kanamoto (decoration around the hole at the top) and colour of the gold on the ridges all look fake to me. I think you can probably do better than this. Have a look at the following website: http://www.toraba.com Trevor has some good kabuto at reasonable prices. Best regards Justin Quote
Stephen Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 Justen means NEW not fake, really hard to tell with the pix. Quote
Justin Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 Sorry, yes that's right. They are NEW (not fake). Cheers, Justin Quote
Sergio Bastos Posted December 10, 2006 Author Report Posted December 10, 2006 Hi Justin, thanks for your reply, yes it look new, and the gilding is strange! the toraba site have great things, but almost every thing is sold!!! Quote
Justin Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 Hi Sergio, If you email Trevor and let him know what you're looking for, he will keep an eye out. I know that he has has been busy writing a book about Japanese armour and has not been keeping his website up to date. He usually has some interesting stuff lying around. Good luck! Justin Quote
