oli Posted March 31, 2022 Report Posted March 31, 2022 Hi, sorry i am newbie: what you think about this auction? https://www.egun.de/market/item.php?id=14764790 regards Oliver Quote
Shugyosha Posted March 31, 2022 Report Posted March 31, 2022 Hi Oliver, Welcome to NMB - from what I can see from the photos: I’m not sure that the pictures show a hamon intact along the edge of the blade. It’s quite hazy in the photos but it may just be the polish. It might be shin Shinto rather than Shinto as I can’t see a very distinct forging pattern and the large kissaki could fit that period as well as early shinto. The patina on the tang is patchy and not very dark which might suggest shin shinto too. The fittings look ok but nothing special and it’s unsigned which isn’t good in a shinto or later blade. I’d be wary of buying on line where the pictures aren’t clear. I’m sorry but I don’t speak German so I can’t comment on the description. Hope that helps. Quote
ChrisW Posted March 31, 2022 Report Posted March 31, 2022 I would pass. I think you can do better for the money considering its an auction that still has some time to go (I don't think it is a 'buy it now' situation?). Quote
DKR Posted April 1, 2022 Report Posted April 1, 2022 I will answer in German . 2 Quote
