Tantoes on e-bay, your opinion is highely appreciated..

Hello Everyone,

 

there are 3 tanto on e-bay sale, represented as pilot daggers. I'm interested in Japanese militaria and looking to obtain Kami Kaze pilot tanto, but they are quite rare to find and there are plenty of fakes. As my knowlage is still far from good, i'd highly appreciate your opinion about these 3 items.

i have doubts if its pilots tanto even if its real - mounts does not meet "standard" issue...

it looks quite nice, but i have doubts about blade.. unfortunately, picture of tang is unavailable..

I also have serious doubts about 2 and 3. The first one may be ok, but

remember that standard army officer's dirks were basically the same design. Sellers love to list them as Kamikaze dirks as it makes them sound more important and sell better.

Number one is a copy made by Hanwei in the 90's i believe, i remember the marked Habaki.

 

The other two are doubtful IMO as well.

Your very welcome Weidas, i bit my tongue when i saw someone bid on the first one.

 

You have to be very careful when looking for a real one, most were made after the war to sell to the GI's.
