Harry Posted July 2, 2021 Report Posted July 2, 2021 Here’s one that looks odd to me and I am wondering if anyone else thinks so? I have heard of the Mune of a sword being replaced with one with a good signature but have never seen one. Is this one of those? Apologies for not posting more but it is not my sword. Harry Quote
Grey Doffin Posted July 2, 2021 Report Posted July 2, 2021 Hi Harry, I think you mean nakago (tang) not mune. This one hasn't been replaced. What you see on the side of the nakago is a stain, not a weld, and the slight indentation at the back is where a tsuba has worn away at the mune of the nakago during decades, if not centuries, of use.
