BjornLundin Posted April 9, 2021 Report Posted April 9, 2021 Found another tsuba on auction. It somehow stuck with me. Any reason for it to be a fake. Looks ok in my view. Cast or carved? Best Björn Quote
b.hennick Posted April 9, 2021 Report Posted April 9, 2021 Looks like a standard San Mai awase -the layer tsuba. The rim holds the layers together. Quote
Brian Posted April 10, 2021 Report Posted April 10, 2021 2 Thin pressed brass plates sandwiched together with the main material in the middle. Look in the holes and see if there is any indication of this. Genuine tsuba, nothing too special, just a fair example of a real tsuba. Quote
Geraint Posted April 10, 2021 Report Posted April 10, 2021 Dear Bjorn. Some further information here, https://www.japaneseswordindex.com/tsuba/sanmai.htm All the best. Quote
