Note non matching menuki, but same style of wrap which is well done but in cheap material. thats for sure they knew how to wrap back then i think my antique is tighter then any repro i have so i have a question would you think about the blade Quote
micah Posted January 23, 2021 Author Report Posted January 23, 2021 i know it is beyond repair but does that look like a typical rebellion blade Quote

The blades are generally "functional", but were at the time not considered worth a polish.... Though some dealers have been known in the past to do "something" to shine them up. Something to watch out for though is that this Itomaki style is typical of the ordinary quite decent swords in some Han, so care needs to be taken. This is why I did a bit of a study of them, looking for reliable diagnostic details. I would not consider this one to be a "Satsuma". Quote
micah Posted January 26, 2021 Author Report Posted January 26, 2021 so your saying that my sword was a use sword but not satsuma a lot of photos i have seen of the boshin war they all have my style of wrap like on my sword and i think my blade is way older than 1600 just by looking at it looks like a muromachi period blade but cant tell i know they recycled blades but i will never know thanks.
