Brian Posted November 25, 2008 Report Posted November 25, 2008 Dirk (Zanshin) came across this pdf while browsing, and pm'ed me to take a look. It is an interesting newspaper article from 1891 about Japanese swords. Some good points and some wild theories in there, but well worth a read. So obviously there was some Western interest 100 years ago. Fascinating to see how they saw the subject way back then. Regards, Brian NYTimes.pdf Quote
bluboxer Posted November 25, 2008 Report Posted November 25, 2008 Interesting how the smith's needed human blood to mix with the steel during forging and they (the smith's) were able to collect every last drop. Alan Quote
DirkO Posted November 26, 2008 Report Posted November 26, 2008 This article was written not that long after the Meiji restoration and I thought it interesting to read that even in a time of turmoil, swords were still kept in the highest regards, the romance vanished for the largest part, but still some of it remained. That being said, I would welcome a Masamune or Muramasa blade for 1000$ :D Quote
loiner1965 Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 interesting read.......makes you wonder about the muramasa curse doesnt it Quote
