First of all congrats on a first class website, i have had a lot of interest in the Japanese sword for many years and even practised the art of iaido,i am interested in the possible purchase of my first "real" sword, but i have an enormous problem, i live in China, i have heard so much about fakes that it puts me off even thinking about buying one, could any kind person out there put me on to,or know of, an authentic dealer (if one exists) that i can contact, i would be extremely grateful if anyone could help me. Kind Regards and thanks Kevin Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted November 17, 2008 Report Posted November 17, 2008 HI Kevin and welcome to the site. No, I can't help you, but someone will be along in a while with words of wisdom, I am sure. Whether such words will help you in your unusual situation is another matter. You are permanently in China and you want an introduction to an authentic dealer, who might also be able to advise you on shipping to China? Quote
Kevinp Posted November 17, 2008 Author Report Posted November 17, 2008 many thanks Piers, any help would be fabulous Kevin Quote

Kind Regards and thanks Kevin I live in China, too, and have some good news: most Chinese fakes are sold abroad . The bad news: I don't know about a single Chinese dealer that sells true Nihontô (although, as a huge a country as China is, I might simply not have heard about them). OTOH, importing Nihontô into China isn't a problem in my experience. Quote
Brian Posted November 17, 2008 Report Posted November 17, 2008 I know there is a Chinese Nihonto forum out there somewhere, discussing genuine swords and there are quite a few Chinese Nihonto collectors there too. I stumbled on it a while ago, but don't have the link. They would know exactly what the situation is there. Anyone have the link or remember who they are? Brian Quote
Brian Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Came across this while browsing. I think it is that Chinese Nihonto forum, but not sure, as I can't read it :D http://www.hfsword.com/bbs/forumdisplay.php?fid=4 Can anyone verify this for me, as I will then add it to the links list. Would be interesting to know what goes on there with genuine Nihonto. Regards, Brian Quote
John A Stuart Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 It certainly is Brian. Some interesting stuff on there. I'm wary of Chinese sites because of embedded trojans etc.. This one seems clean though. John Quote
