Want to jump to the last unread post in a topic?

Still playing around. I used to click the post in a category and be taken to the last unread post. 
Now I see clicking a topic takes you to the first post of that page. So I did some investigating. 
 

if you click on the title, it takes you to the top of the page. But if you click on the solid black circle (can be a star too) it takes you to the post in that topic that you haven’t read yet.

I'm surprised because what you describe as a new behavior has always been what I experienced. I always had to click on the grey circles to jump to the first unread message.
