kusunokimasahige Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 Hello all.. I was wondering, many people buy koshirae without a blade, but is it not so that whatever koshirae you buy, it has a small chance of your actual sword blade fitting in it? So, do people buy koshirae only as an aestethic form of art? KM Quote
John A Stuart Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 Most assuredly. Sets and subsets, all collectable. A lot of collectors tend to focus on certain things as time and funds dictate. John Quote
shan Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 Hi, Its worth noting that some have so many blades hanging around that they have a more than good chance of finding one that fits the Koshirae. I haven`t got a problem with a tsunagi Facimile but i prefer to find a blade that fits the mounts, even if an extra seppa is required. Regards Shan Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 Also, it is possible to have the koshirae sori altered to fit your blade, if it is not too far off. Quote
kusunokimasahige Posted November 8, 2008 Author Report Posted November 8, 2008 Wouldnt they have to split the saya for that? KM Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 Wouldnt they have to split the saya for that? KM Well, I had mine done by a saya-shi and the lacquer has not been broken. He must have introduced some kind of long saw or file. Unfortunately he had to change the Koikuchi, though, for some reason. Quote
