sz_waldmann Posted April 23, 2019 Report Posted April 23, 2019 Hello, I am new here, thank you for any help you can give me This is a paper of a tsuba I just bought. I do not have any petter pictures yet, but maybe it will be enough. If not, I will have to come back to you later. Could you please tell me: What do they call the tsuba? What rank do they call it? What is the date? What does it say on the envelope? Who was it issued to? I guess it is is mumei, but maybe they knew better Thank you and thanks for letting me in. Szabolcs Hungary Quote
ROKUJURO Posted April 23, 2019 Report Posted April 23, 2019 Szabolcs, welcome to the board!A better picture would certainly help to read it! Quote
kyushukairu Posted April 23, 2019 Report Posted April 23, 2019 Szabolcs,The tsuba is described as 'hana mon sukashi' (花文透鐔) and is attributed to the Kinai school (記内). The appraisal was issued on the 8th April 1973 (昭和四十八年四月八日). The printing on the envelop is kanteisho/ appraisal (鑑定書) and the writing just reiterates the shape and attribution as mentioned above. 2 Quote

sz_waldmann Posted April 23, 2019 Author Report Posted April 23, 2019 I am stuck with google translate. What does 'hana mon sukashi' (花文透鐔) mean? thanks, Szab Quote
Geraint Posted April 23, 2019 Report Posted April 23, 2019 Dear Szab Roughly flower badge piercing. Mon are heraldic emblems, sukashi simply means pierced. Welcome. All the best. 1 Quote
Nobody Posted April 23, 2019 Report Posted April 23, 2019 The descripton of the tsuba → 鉄地竪木瓜形地透 – iron base, vertically oriented mokkou shaped openwork Who was it issued to? → 新谷寿 – Shintani Hisashi (there are many other readings) Quote
