Semar mendem Posted November 23, 2018 Report Posted November 23, 2018 Dear All I've got photograph of gunto, but this gunto have unusual koshirae, it's like comander saber gunto, but the ornament forms little different, also the nakago, And the blade it self, but looks like Hiromasa style katana blade, According to you, is this katana is originally from Japan, or localy production, while i have not opened the nakago to see the mei, cause it is far away from city where i live, Any info that gave, thank you Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted November 23, 2018 Report Posted November 23, 2018 Semar, The tsuka (handle looks legit), and possibly the blade. The saya (scabbard) seems to be a local reproduction. They've copied the style of a kyugunto saya. The blade is of the Type 94/98 Officer gunto. Quote
Semar mendem Posted November 24, 2018 Author Report Posted November 24, 2018 Bruce Thank you so much for your analize, i'll go to there to see the mei, soon after i've got the right time, althouth i wonder is itncan be repaired again Quote
vajo Posted November 24, 2018 Report Posted November 24, 2018 Hello Semar. I'm with Bruce, the Tsuka and maybe the Tsuba is genuine. I read that the Japanse had some Indonesian Troops recruited during WW2. Maybe the sword is from them? Could you look on the nakago of the blade? Quote
