Tokugawa Crest Sukashi Tsuba

Dear Gentlemen,

 

up for sale is a nice Tsuba depicting the Tokugawa Crest or Mon.

This Tsuba measures 7.1 cm hight x 7 cm wide x 4 mm.

This Tsuba shows some very interesting parallels to some of those Tsuba which were produced by the Norisuke school.

(Surface treatment, colouration of its patina, lamellar folding in its mimi)

 

Due this fact myself would range it with certain confidence to the Owari Futagoyama Norisuke school / Shin-Shinto.

most probably produced for one of the Shogunal Hatamoto.

The Norisuke group is found and known in collectors circles to have copied famous Tsuba and/or design of famous Tsuba-

there is a very famous Ohno Tsuba depicting the same Tokugawa Mon in possession of the Honda family.

This Ohno Tsuba was published in Makoto´s " big blue " Owari Tsuba book.
