vajo Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 Need some help with two woodprints purchase. These are parts of tryptichons maybe from hayashi shogoro but I'm not sure. I was searching on different sites and auctions about the woodprints but i haven't success. First one is maybe the gathering of yoritomos troops. the next one i have no idea who it is. Maybe someone knows title and artist. Chris Quote
Blagoy Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 The second print title is Earth of Kawanakajima, from the series Selections for the Ten Stems by Utagawa Yoshifusa. Very nice one http://www.mfa.org/collections/object/earth-of-kawanakajima-kawanaka-no-tsuchi-yamamoto-dôki-from-the-series-selections-for-the-ten-stems-mitate-jikkan-no-uchi-462043 1 Quote
vajo Posted October 2, 2017 Author Report Posted October 2, 2017 Wow that was fast. Thank you very much for sharing! Quote
SteveM Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 The artist for the top one should be Gountei Sadahide (Utagawa Sadahide) 五雲亭貞秀 (歌川貞秀) I see "Takechi Mitsuhide" (武智光秀), which is a reference to Akechi Mitsuhide, so this likely represents a Sengoku-era scene. 1 Quote
vajo Posted October 3, 2017 Author Report Posted October 3, 2017 Thank you Steve. I looks really close to Utagawa Sadahide. But i didn't find out the title. Quote
vajo Posted October 3, 2017 Author Report Posted October 3, 2017 I bought a complete woodcut print collection from a collector in austria. So there is one more piece, i didn't know anything. Style is - i think Yoshifusa. But i didn't find out something. Maybe someone can help bringing some light into the darkness. Quote
