Hello,

I would like to discuss en hear some opinion about this Katana

I have some knowledge about the WW2 Military katana but this is a other league

Blade is 34,25... inch from tip of the blade till the end of the tang probaly signed by Nankei Shigekuni

There are traces of lacquer/varnish on the blade.

Maybe they replaced parts like the Tsuka in the past but all fits tightly and matching the Kashira and Fuchi.

Does anybody recognise the Menuki or could give a date/era about the parts

Is it worthy to restore the Katana

Thank you

Silvio

Well someone damaged the nakago badly "fixing" it up. Whole thing has doubt as a result, just because it becomes that much harder to judge.

Send it to Benson and let him inspect the whole thing and tell you what to do from here.

Parts are not high grade and I think you can view them as not material to figuring out if you have a Nanki Shigekuni. It has to go to someone who knows first hand what it should be like and I think Benson is your choice here.
