Marius Posted March 3, 2017 Report Posted March 3, 2017 Here is a genuine samurai horse whip, used as symbol of status in the Meiji period (much as the saihai before). The whip is made of a special kind of bamboo (the nodes are much closer to each other giving it a pleasant look). It has a very nice tassel, made of raw silk, hand-dyed with indigo. A high quality item. Barry's indispensable compilation of muchi (please scroll down to see two samurai holding exactly this type of muchi). https://pl.pinterest.com/bhennick/muchi-whip/ This whip must have been handed down as an object of importance and symbol of status. Otherwise it would not have survived. Length: 95cm. SOLD
