My point was that the date was written in Japanese but with the AD date  like "one nine four five". I have never seen that before. !945 - or should I say Showa 20 - must have been a pretty complex time for the Japanese.

Blade is unsigned and partially of stainless steel...Well tempered with clear hada, but edges are scratched from light sharpening attempt...My initial thought before removing the handle was that it was a sword tip.

It must be TAKISAWA Katsushi, if the opposite side indicates the first initial is "K" as mentioned in post #3
