Mystery Honami Kao

Anybody recognize this Honami?  The Kao isn't in Markus' book, and I don't have any other references.  The date is 1958, so that should narrow it down.   I bought Markus book recently and didn't realize how many lineages there are!  Cheers, Bob

Its supposedly Hon'ami Koson (the kao on page 81 of my Hon'ami book). But the paper says Showa 32 (1957) what is bad news as Koson died in 1955. There are quite many Hon'ami origami fakes going round so watch out!

Thanks Markus.  If you follow the link that Peter provided, you will find another discussion about this and Morita San said that the kao is from Koryu who was a pupil of Koson.  He also mentioned two not in your book.  Are you familiar with Koryu?  Cheers, bob

They all had very distinctive kao. Yours is trying to be Koson, with the emphasis on 'trying' I'm afraid. Also I think I can see the stamp on the back coming through, its location is wrong, it should be better aligned with the kao.

I followed the link but the discussion over there was about a different paper, about one that was issued by Koryo. This one here fakes a Koson paper.

I see what you mean Markus, and thank you, you may have saved me some money!  I will see if I can post the whole paper.  I found another example like this kao though, discussed at another thread, that was also said to be fake.  I wonder whether a forger developed his own kao?!  Here is the link.  Cheers, Bob
