I know that such bad looking tangs are often from fake swords,but in some ww2 swords the tang was heavily modded to fit the tsuka so, is there any way to distinguish them?maybe inspecting the blade itself?

Here are some pics i found to ilustrate my doubt,the 2º is the only one im sure about is genuine

Could #1 be for a western saber style handle?

Maybe,i also have seen tantos transformed(ruined) into hunting knives, but in this case,the sword have a japanes traditional tsuka,thats why i have doubts
