Kurohyou Posted October 10, 2007 Report Posted October 10, 2007 Hi all, First, sorry if I brake any forum-rules now, or put this post in the wrong section. Please give me a quick spank if that is the case. Anyway, I recently got an offer to buy a Japanese sword for a small sum of money. I will probably decline the offer, but it got me interested in knowing more about the blade. And since there are alot of people in this forum that knows alot more then I do, I was hoping of getting some input. Seller claims it was bought in USA "many years ago" during an auction. Any ideas of what it might be? (cheap copy, or something interesting?) What does the Mei say? I haven't taken the pictures myself, so sorry about the lack of quality&relevance. Thank you for your time! Best Regards. ---Pictures--- ---------------- Edit: Pictures removed Quote
pcfarrar Posted October 10, 2007 Report Posted October 10, 2007 After a quick check of your images it appears to be a modern Chinese fake. Quote
Brian Posted October 10, 2007 Report Posted October 10, 2007 Hawkan, Congrats on seeking advice here before making a costly mistake. That is 100% Chinese fake. No doubt about it. Check out the link above the forum for a page about fakes, and it should tell you some of the things to look out for. Regards, Brian Edit to add: Wow...3 replies in 2 minutes. :D Quote
Kurohyou Posted October 10, 2007 Author Report Posted October 10, 2007 Whooaaaa, that was ...quick (read "amazingly fast")! *bows* Good to know that the replies so far agree with what I already thought myself. About the "costly mistake": "Small sum of money"...is less then one would pay for a new made ...let's say...crappy toy from Ryumon or Paul Chen. So I could always just have used it as a cooking knife or made some non-wanted damage in my apartment with it ,) Cheap copy or not, I liked the texture on the blade. (yeah, I'm a sucker for weapons hehe) Thank you so much for your input in the subject! Im going to hang out here abit more from now on, and try to learn what I can. Once again, thank you for the quick replies! Best Regards. /Hawkan Quote
azizaedelam Posted October 10, 2007 Report Posted October 10, 2007 I have seen other swords from this seller in Sweden (reqognize the surroundings), looking the same, stating its genuine, but its 100% fake as the other members state. Quote
