svarsh Posted August 9, 2015 Report Posted August 9, 2015 Sasano's "silver book" # 251 tsuba states that this is a Bridge and Iris (Yatsuhashi) design, however to me it looks as a Bridge and Butterfly. What do you think? Quote
Kevin Adams Posted August 9, 2015 Report Posted August 9, 2015 Definitely an iris, although crudely rendered. There are three heart-shaped leaves above a cluster of stems at 7 o'clock, and the two "holes" are intended to represent the negative spaces between the upright leaves ("standards"). 1 Quote
John A Stuart Posted August 10, 2015 Report Posted August 10, 2015 Yes, irises. The bridge isn't a normal crossing the river type bridge. I believe it is a bridge you see in gardens traversing marsh, more like a walkway. John Quote
Geraint Posted August 10, 2015 Report Posted August 10, 2015 Sergei, |Some information for you here,http://www.aisf.or.jp/~jaanus/deta/y/yatsuhashi.htm Yatsuhashi and irisa are a classic element of Japanese gardening on the grand scale. All the best. Quote
