dig1982 Posted August 6, 2015 Report Posted August 6, 2015 Question about this blade. This is a traditionally made gendaito or a machine made sword? Quote
Brian Posted August 6, 2015 Report Posted August 6, 2015 Not enough info in the pics to tell. Just a guess.....Showato. Brian Quote
hxv Posted August 6, 2015 Report Posted August 6, 2015 Diego, You need to either photograph a small section of the blade with a macro lens or to look at the blade with a good magnifying glass. Either way, what you look for (among other things) are nie, the presence of which indicates a traditionally-made blade. In the absence of nie, chances are very high that your blade is non-traditionally made. Hope this answer helps. Regards, Hoanh 1 Quote
dig1982 Posted August 6, 2015 Author Report Posted August 6, 2015 Sorru but blade is not mine and no more detailed pics. What do you mean with showato Brian? Quenched in oil machine blade? Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted August 6, 2015 Report Posted August 6, 2015 I'd say showato as well. The pic of the kissaki shows a dead hamon (no activity, nie), a telltale sign of showato. Keep in mind that the pics aren't great and it could be a bad polish - but if you bet it's a gendaito on those two "maybes", you're likely to lose. Could it be gendaito? Maybe, but I'd say it's doubtful. Also, it's unsigned - most good swords from Showa are signed. Quote
dig1982 Posted August 6, 2015 Author Report Posted August 6, 2015 Thanks for the info...yes is out of polish...is not for me but for a friend. And i'm very doubtful too, but before to tell him a response i want to be quiet sure. Quote
