OnTime2Day Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 Hello all. My Grandfather was in WW2 and brought back a couple swords. The attached is a 22.5 inch Wakizashi that seems much older than a ww2 era blade. Nakago is a dark charcoal color. Only two characters are written on the Nakago: 吉 廣. Would appreciate any validation of my eyes and interpretation and any comments on the age/value. Thanks Quote
Stephen Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 more and more Grandfathers swords showing up,, Shinto wak pressed into war gunto mounts, looks to be Yoshihiro. Quote

OnTime2Day Posted December 24, 2014 Author Report Posted December 24, 2014 Thank you everyone. Everyone's feedback is certainly appreciated....keep it coming I doubt very much I could be lucky enough that this is a GO Yoshihiro haha. Perhaps from Ise daijo Yoshihiro in the Hizen style in the 1600's? The symbols he used to write his name are the same & the actually writing looks almost identical as one of his blades in the attached picture: Quote
cabowen Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 Niji mei Hizen-to are pretty rare I think....There was one in Ise in the later 1600's....From the Yamada Seki school. I would try him first. Quote
