Brian Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 Don't forget the sticky post here: http://militaria.co.za/nihontomessagebo ... php?t=1339 There is a Nihonto video group run by Paul Martin here: http://www.youtube.com/group/nihonto Regards, Brian Quote
w.y.chan Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 While not taking away the merit of the forging technique shown on that video it is not strictly traditional Japanese method in technique and material used. I doubt it would be added to nihonto.tv video database. Quote
Brian Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 Wow..I hadn't watched it yet when I posted that. That is an interesting video. I think it shows a Chinese forge, and is the equivalent of mass production on a small scale (if that makes sense ) These must be light years ahead of the regular Chinese junk. Doesn't appear to be tamahagane, and is not Nihonto...but very interesting to watch. That hammering machine he uses is also fun to watch. Brian Quote
Ed Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 Brian, While this is not sword related at all, if you want to see a serious power hammer pounding on a serious billet of red hot steel, check out this 1904 video. Note it takes 8 men to turn the billet. http://one.revver.com/watch/53941 PS: If too far off topic, please feel free to delete. Quote
