Hello,

I need some help for those two small Tsuba I purchased some time ago. Both are in Shibuichi representing a sennin (1st Tsuba is 5.8 cm high and second one 6 cm high).

I am pretty sure that first Tsuba represents KO-SHO-HEI (Taoist priest under chinese name Hwang Chu Ping) with stones being transformed in his goats.

But what about the second One? Does someone can give ideas ?

I assume those tsuba are Hamano, but should you thing they are Nara or Mito please advise.

Thank you for your kind help

Hi Bruno

Is it Kume Sennin, the perverted hermit? :dunno:

The legend says that Kume was traveling on his cloud when he suddenly noticed a young woman near a river washing her clothes. He curiously watched the woman and unexpectedly caught a glimpse of her white leg under her raised kimono.

Kume’s mind became filled with desire and he immediately lost the ability to fly. Heavy with lustful thoughts, Kume fell to the earth and crashed in front of the lady!

I'm just guessing. Someone may tell you who it really is?

I think you may be right in the first one. Attached is one of mine from the Edward Wrangham collection
